DESCENT

DESCENT is a downhill mountain biking game that demands a precise blend of momentum, accuracy, and an intuitive understanding of the terrain. Players navigate hand-crafted trails packed with obstacles, including banked turns, rock gardens, exposed tree roots, and jumps. The goal isn’t just to reach the finish line; it’s to do so as quickly as possible, avoiding the loss of precious seconds caused by crashes or poor handling.

Gameplay: Find your rhythm on the mountainside

In DESCENT, your bike reacts to more than just your steering inputs. Factors like suspension response, tire grip, shifts in your center of gravity, and control while airborne all come into play.

  • Realistic bike handling: Manage traction, suspension, and rider movement—don’t rely solely on steering.
  • Time trials: Challenge yourself against the clock and strive to beat your personal bests.
  • Freeride mode: Explore the mountainside without the pressure of a finish-line timer.
  • Competitive leaderboards: Standard courses are tracked on a leaderboard, giving players specific goals to conquer.

Mastering the art of a smooth descent

In DESCENT, brake before entering sharp corners rather than dragging your brakes throughout the turn. Lean into the turn to maintain control, and avoid sudden, jerky movements when navigating loose or uneven terrain. When encountering uneven terrain, take advantage of the downward slopes to build momentum without needing to pedal constantly.

When performing jumps, pay close attention to the bike's positioning while in the air. Practice maintaining control from the moment you leave the ground until you land; a hard crash will cost you time, even if you are still able to continue the race.
