Shady Cats

Shady Cats is a unique platformer where every jump leaves a shadow behind. Collect acorns, evade your own past actions, and overcome the mischievous challenges set by these cats. A path that seemed safe just seconds ago can quickly turn dangerous, transforming every jump into a mini-puzzle of timing and positioning.

Jump, collect acorns, and outrun your shadow

The goal in Shady Cats is to collect as many acorns as possible without colliding with the shadow that follows you. Every move counts, as your shadow will retrace your previous path, making familiar platforms increasingly difficult to navigate.

• Shadow-chase mechanic: Keep an eye on where you’ve been—crossing your own previous path could lead to a collision with your own shadow.
• Fish and bees: Goldfish can help you gather more acorns, but they also attract bees—obstacles that add an extra layer of difficulty.
• Firefly protection: Collect fireflies to temporarily vanish your shadows, creating a safer window for movement.
• Power-up cards: Choose helpful boosts—such as a Shield, Vanish, or Magnet—after completing levels.
• Five colorful locations: Explore the Backyard, Living Room, Rooftop, Kitchen, and Fishing Pier.
• Unlockable rewards: Discover 22 cats, earn 48 medals, and climb the leaderboard—which even displays players' national flags!

Controls

• Player 1: A/D or Q/D to move; W/Z to jump.
• Player 2: F/H to move; T to jump.
• Player 3: J/L to move; I to jump.
• Player 4: Left/Right arrow keys to move; Up arrow key to jump.

Outrun your own shadow

Don’t just jump around aimlessly in Shady Cats; have a route in mind. Start by collecting nearby acorns, then head toward open platforms where you can avoid crossing the path of your shadow.

Save your firefly protection for crowded situations, and consider using a Shield or the Vanish ability when facing difficult levels. In multiplayer mode, coordinate your movements to avoid accidentally creating more dangerous paths for other players.
